Faculty of Integrated Human Studies

A lot of physical experimental apparatus has been preserved since Seimi-kyoku (the office for chemical education), in particular the ones during the Meiji era. Complete collections of the apparatus are kept only in former Dai San (third) High School and Dai Yon (fourth) High School. The Sanko collections are good samples of physical history and are valuable cultural assets.

Apparatus prior to 1886 are significant historical collections through which we can understand the physical education during the Meiji era. Most of them are for physical education while some are for medical education. Some of them are expensive European and American apparatus, which indicate collecting activities for experiments in that period.
